SNH-Benin are seeking an operator for Block 2, offshore Benin.
The block covers the shelf and shelf edge plays adjacent to the Dahomey and Seme oilfields in Benin and the Aje and Ogo oilfields in Nigeria.
The Gbenonkpo-1 well was drilled by Hunt in 2014 chasing the shelf edge play. The well was drilled up dip of the structural closure, perhaps to prove and OWC, and encountered carbonate sands.
The opportunity is to redrill the Gbenonkpo well to the south, at the centre of a shelf edge, targeting low acoustic impedance responses that could indicate an oilfield.
